Digital literacy and disinformation

Karlskoga, April 2024

In Sweden, the students continued to work on the topic of disinformation. In mixed groups, the Swedish and Spanish students produced information material on the topic of digital literacy and disinformation.

One group produced information material to promote source criticism on the Internet.

Another group presented examples of disinformation in Sweden and Spain, answering questions about how this news used strong emotional triggers to influence its audience, and what conflicts in society it caused or exacerbated.

A third group gathered data from various international surveys on the subject and conducted their own interviews.

One group carried out a survey in the school with the following questions:

  • Have you shared news in social media without reading the whole article?
  • Have you shared news in social medio without knowing who the source was?
  • In which situations do you think is most difficult to be critical with the information you meet?

The last group produced a video report on source criticism and digital literacy in our school, interviewing students, teachers and one of the headmasters.
